how is direct primary care different?

Milestone Pediatrics serves patients through Direct Primary Care (DPC), which is a membership-based model of delivering health care that operates outside of insurance.

You’ll receive all the pediatric care your child needs for one low monthly price, instead of filling out piles of forms at each visit, experiencing limited time with your doctor, and dealing with billing hassles/price confusion.

direct primary care is perfect for...

  • Families seeking a personalized healthcare experience for their child

  • Parents who want a fixed price (avoid copays!) in order to budget healthcare expenses mindfully without worry about unexpected/hidden costs

  • Families with high-deductible insurance plans who usually pay for every office visit no matter how minor or complex the issue

  • Families with inconsistent health benefits who want to keep the same provider through job changes or insurance plan changes

  • Parents who desire more time with their doctor to ensure all their questions are addressed or reassurance for what their child is facing

  • Families who need ease of scheduling and short wait times

  • Families who have been rushed by quick care providers and left feeling confused or as if their concern was not addressed

  • Parents who want the flexibility to text/email their doctor to address certain concerns without having to make a trip to the office

  • Parents who desire a calm, comfortable space to connect with the doctor to feel heard, respected, and confident in the care received

Hear From the Founder of Milestone Pediatrics,
Dr. Jenny Rose

Experiencing treatment for breast cancer transformed my view of the way medicine is delivered today. It forced me to evaluate the joys and pains of my career in pediatric practice, and provided me additional perspective through the lens of being a patient. Portions of my treatment required that I take significant time away from my work. I had always thought that if I ever took two weeks off of work, it would be on a lovely vacation to somewhere tropical! Returning to work after treatment was painstakingly difficult, and I knew I had to find another way to provide the care that I felt patients deserved. I also decided to prioritize myself, my family and my values in a new way. From this, Milestone Pediatrics was born.

I had always dreamed of opening my own practice, and truly God has led me on the path to do so. Milestone Pediatrics is an opportunity for me to grow in knowledge, creativity, and serving  others in a deeper way. It allows me to practice medicine from the heart, and gives me time to spend on relationships and understanding. I am honored to be amongst physicians who are taking back primary health care on behalf of, and to advocate for, their patients.

Starting Milestone Pediatrics is a momentous change in my professional journey in moving from a typical insurance-based practice to a completely new model of direct care. There is no other business like it! Being an entrepreneur is an important career breakthrough for me in taking a big risk, considering my legacy, and providing medical care to patients my way. The opening of Milestone Pediatrics is a turning point for pediatric care in Kingsport and the Tri-Cities region in East Tennessee.

Our broken insurance-based medical system is not the only way to receive healthcare. Doctors and patients deserve better!

All in all, I truly love meeting families where they are, and helping them achieve their next milestone - whatever it may be, however big or small - and celebrating those special moments together.

I have been in practice as a board-certified pediatrician in Kingsport, Tennessee for over 10 years. I am a proud wife to my husband Curt, and a mother to our two beautiful children Emma and Cameron. Being both a mom and a doctor have positioned me for this role at Milestone Pediatrics. I have always gravitated toward being a leader, and I am excited to lead a movement in our area to provide a different way of receiving healthcare.

Practicing medicine brings me such joy. I love connecting with families and helping them through tough times, as well as celebrating their victories. I enjoy discussing lifestyle factors that contribute to health and wellness, in particular nutrition, exercise, sleep, and connections with others. Child growth and development are so fascinating to me!

Outside of the office, I enjoy walking our dogs Cooper and Ruby, yoga, cooking, travel, and time relaxing by the pool with my family.

Why "Milestone?"
A milestone is an event marking a significant change. In pediatric practice, of course I love to track developmental milestones. Whether it is a baby’s first smile, or an autistic child’s first time making eye contact with me in the office, these moments are special. It may be the last pack of diapers a family needs to buy, or the last temper tantrum a child has before they learn to apply a new behavior coping skill. These turning points are all important and should be honored. Just like kids, milestones come in all shapes and sizes, and I enjoy celebrating them all with my patients!

I want my patients to leave the office feeling understood and empowered with confidence and knowledge!

I love being a quick text message away from a parent who is unsure how to handle baby’s first fever, or seasoned parents’ concern about a subtle change in their teen's well-being.

Dr. Cherese Lee

Cherese has been an RN for over 25 years. After receiving her Bachelor of Science in nursing, she started her career in the NICU, already knowing her love was working with kids. While she has worked in multiple areas of medicine and advocacy since then, most have been centered around maternal-child health.

A few years ago, Cherese decided to return to the world of pediatrics, bringing knowledge from those other disciplines with her, and it felt like coming home.

As a mother of five, including two sets of twins, Cherese brings realistic experience from a parent’s perspective. She loves building relationships with families, and is so excited to work in this setting that will allow more time for patient and parent teaching.

Cherese’s medical knowledge and experiences, along with all she has learned from life with a big family, give our members a valuable resource.

Plus, she’s just fun!
